Regulations for travelling within the EC and within Switzerland
When travelling with dogs, cats and ferrets within the EC - and within Switzerland too if the holder hasn't a Swiss domicile -, the marking with a microchip concurring with ISO standards (15 digits without characters) is compulsory. Easily readable tattoos will still be accepted until the end of June 2011.
When travelling within the EC - and within Switzerland if the holder hasn't a Swiss domicile -, the pet passport has to be brought along, too. Pet passports are delivered by the veterinarians.
When returning with dogs and cats from countries where the urban rage has been proven, separate regulations will be applied. Details can be found on the web site of the Federal Veterinary Office (BVet).
